Kansai Helios acquires railway coatings business from Becker
Global coatings manufacturer Kansai Helios will acquire all of Beckers‘ railway coating business assets, such as formulations, railway approvals and the customer database, upon fulfilment of closing conditions.
As part of the acquisition, the company is expected to establish its first subsidiary in France, Kansai Helios France SAS, in the first quarter of 2023. According to Kansai, the acquisition represents a major step in strengthening its competitive position in the railway coating sector in Europe and worldwide.
Beckers Group offers a wide range of coatings for the protection of rail vehicles. The product range extends from solvent-based to water-based and meets demanding technical requirements. The acquisition will transfer the product range and technologies to Kansai Helios.
Dietmar Jost, Managing Director of the Kansai Helios Group, explains: „The development and production of railway coatings has always been of great importance to us and in recent years we have built up a strong market position as the largest manufacturer of railway coatings in Europe with important brands such as Wefa, Rembrandtin and Helios.
According to the manufacturer, the acquisition rounds off the segment consisting of quality, efficiency, a wide colour range and sophisticated system solutions that convince rail vehicle manufacturers in more than 40 countries. Following the recent acquisition from Westdeutsche Farben GmbH („wefa“) in Germany, this acquisition is another important step for the development in the railway coating segment, it said.
