Evaluation of wood surface coating performance

In the study "Evaluation of Wood surface coating Performance" the performances of water based, solvent based and powder coatings are compared on a medium density fiberboard.

The study gives a comparison of the performance of power coating

Coating performance was tested on samples using adhesion strength, surface coating hardness, layer thickness and rapid deformation test. The results were analyzed with two statistical methods. Adhesion strength, layer thickness and surface hardness were determined applying ANOVA analysis, while rapid deformation tests were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis method. Water-based coatings exhibited a higher adhesion strength and impact deformation resistance in comparison to solvent-based coating. Although the powder coating exhibited a higher hardness than solvent and water base coating application, rapid deformation results were lower.
