During the opening ceremony, Shinichi Tanzawa, President and CEO of Fanuc Europe, explained that the company is experiencing increasing demand for automation in all industrial sectors. Fanuc’s worldwide turnover in industrial robots and CNC controllers was the equivalent of 5.6 billion euros in the last financial year. Fanuc intends to expand its market position in Europe by investing in its European subsidiaries. According to Tanzawa, the company is convinced that it can grow in Europe with its energy-efficient and reliable products, combined with very good service and support. „With our Paint Lab, we can map a large number of paints and painting systems,“ said Ralf Völlinger, general manager robot business division at Fanuc Europe.

Large components can be coated

„We offer our customers by far the largest model range of robots, including for the paint sector,“ said Robin Kaufmann, Head of Paint Shop Automation Sales at Fanuc Europe. After managing its European paint business from the US for a number of years, the supplier has been back in Europe with a local team since 2018. The almost 30 m long state-of-the-art paint test facility is used to test and optimise customer applications under real conditions.

In detail, it consists of a 7 m long preparation zone, a 10 m long paint booth and a 7 m long dryer. The width is 5.5 m. Components with maximum dimensions of 5.5 m length, 2.5 m width and 2.8 m height and a weight of up to 1300 kg can be painted. During the official opening of the Paint Lab, numerous customers took the opportunity to visit the test facility and gain insights into solutions that the company has implemented together with partners on the topic of „Paint and Dispensing“.

Paint solutions from partners

In addition to Fanuc, partner companies such as system suppliers and integrators presented their new solutions and technology exhibits. Numerous projects were pre-installed in the modular area. In the new technical centre, selected parts of a VW Tiguan were painted live and programming of the „CRX Cobots“ was demonstrated.

„We have successfully implemented significant projects here, both in the automotive sector and in general industry,“ Kaufmann reports. „There are already several customer enquiries for our new Paint Lab, and we are very much looking forward to implementing it. Whatever the painting or dispensing requirements, we are confident that there is a suitable Fanuc robot model to meet the needs. We have the largest selection of painting robots and decades of experience and expertise,“ says Kaufmann.
