PosiTector 6000 series with improved ergonomics
DeFelsko has completely revised and upgraded its “PosiTector 6000” thickness gage for metal substrates.
The revsied thickness gage now features an impact resistant 2.8-inch color touchscreen with redesigned keypad for quick menu navigation. Its auto-rotating display with flip lock makes it easier to work overhead. The U.S. manufacturer has also optimized shape and haptics: thanks to its durable rubberized grip, the new model generation is much more ergonomic in handling than its predecessors. Probe interchangeability and versatility in use have been retained: the basic gage is still able to accommodate a wide variety of probes. They can even be changed while the device is switched on.
DeFelsko considered numerous customer requests with regard to ergonomics and usability. This is evidenced by new details such as the on-gage help explaining menu items at the touch of a button, the instant-on feature quickly powering up the gage if recently powered down, or the enhanced fast mode with up to 90 readings per minute for quick inspection. Moreover, users have the option of saving up to 100 screenshots for record keeping and review. Stored readings can be downloaded on either PC or Mac.
Advanced models highlight a Prompted Batch Mode to create pre-defined batches with on-screen text and image prompts for each reading. They can store 250,000 readings in up to 1,000 batches and sub-batches. Another new feature: SSPC-PA 2, ISO 19840 and IMO PSPC 90/10 modes help users comply with standards by prompting for min/max specifications and automatically calculating statistics with a pass/fail result. Bluetooth 4.0 for fast data transfer, Wifi for synchronization with PosiSoft.net and for downloading firmware updates, and BLE API interface for integration into third-party software are included as standard feature on the top of the line-up.
Despite larger memory and more features, DeFelsko was able to extend battery life for all PosiTector 6000 variants. Compared to the previous generation, it has increased by 30%. Good for users who work in harsh environments: the new model series is weatherproof, dustproof, and water-resistant – thanks to its IP65-rated enclosure.
