New facility for undercarriages

Škoda Transportation has begun construction of a new manufacturing and testing facility in Pilsen. This year and next year, the company will invest more than 800 million crowns in its main complex. This major investment project will see, for example, the Pilsen production line expand to include new facilities for making undercarriages.

“Škoda will use these new facilities for welding, paint shop and blasting boxes. The machines will be at a really high technological level – we will build, for example, a new modern robotic workplace for welding. The production capacity will also be enhanced with, for example, computer-controlled machining tools costing approximately 80 million crowns,” says Pavel Novák, Vice President for Investments and Asset Management of Škoda Transportation. The second important area of investment in Škoda Pilsen will be the construction of a new testing facility, where it will be possible to test all vehicles or their parts from Škoda production. This investment project incorporates the building of a new transport system within the main Pilsen complex for approximately 320 million crowns, and it will include a new connection of test tracks to the production facility or to the local rail line.
