New Managing Director in the VDMA Air Handling Technology Association
„Air technology is an integral part of mechanical and plant engineering. Our industry is a problem solver – for example in air pollution control, energy efficiency or, most recently, the Corona pandemic. The companies in the ventilation and air-conditioning sector make a major contribution in all these fields,“ says Hild. „In this context, networking and interdisciplinary cooperation are becoming increasingly important – both within the industry and throughout the entire mechanical and plant engineering sector and beyond its borders.“
The graduate economist Hild, was initially responsible for the German flat-panel display industry at the association before moving to the Executive Directorate office as an assistant. Outside the VDMA, he gained experience at a medium-sized company in the metal industry and as a speaker at an industrial association in the heating technology sector. Hild succeeds Dr Thomas Schräder, who had been managing director of the trade association since 2003. Schräder, who holds a doctorate in physics, began his career at VDMA in 1991 as Technical Director of Surface Technology before taking over as Managing Director of General Air Technology. Dr Hugo Blaum, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Air Handling Technology Association, thanks Schräder for many years of good cooperation and the successful implementation of joint projects: „Thomas Schräder understood how to unite the most diverse interests. In addition, he set essential impulses for a working methodology of networked planning and building.“ Together with Blaum, Schräder co-founded the VDMA’s Building Technology Forum in 2011 and thus introduced forward-looking topics such as the BIM method (Building Information Modelling) into the association’s work.
